Volunteer Opportunities:
SFFD Fire Reserve
Volunteer organization that provides trained support for the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) at large-scale emergencies, including greater-alarm fires as well as natural and manmade disasters.
NERT
Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT), a community based training program dedicated to a neighbor-helping-neighbor approach. Through this program, individuals will learn the basics of personal preparedness and prevention. The training also includes hands-on disaster skills that will help individuals respond to a personal emergency as well as act as members of a neighborhood response team.
River Delta Fire District
The River Delta Fire District is a volunteer fire department serving an area approximately 30 square miles and located near Highway 12 and Highway 160 near the City of Rio Vista and Isleton, CA. They provide services in structural firefighting, wildland firefighting, emergency medical care and hazardous materials response, urban search and rescue, and water and flood rescue.
San Francisco Red Cross
Volunteer in the Northern California Coastal Region. Volunteers carry out 90% of the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. Example volunteer positions include:

The California Conservation Corps operates more than two dozen wildland firefighting hand crews. The CCC partners with CAL FIRE, U.S. Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management to provide hand crews to fight and prevent wildland fires throughout the state.
