The MARS (Music and Academics Resisting the System) Project at Downtown High School explores mathematical concepts, social justice curriculum, scientific principles, and literacy through music. Students engage in music workshops, production, and praxis around a social justice theme each semester. To culminate, they compose and perform original songs that reflect what they have explored throughout the semester.
