Power by Design: Intentional & Imbalanced

(Inequity & Incarceration)

In the Fall semester of 2021, MARS students will analyze systems of power, who has it, and why. Students will make connections between the power imbalances that happen through the U.S. prison system and the physics of electricity and circuits. We will examine how the U.S. prison system is an imbalanced system of power and how this is reflected in electricity and circuits.

Theme:

Love FM: Evolution of Solidarity and Resistance through Compassion and Communication

In the MARS Spring semester of 2022, we will analyze how communication systems help build solidarity and resistance movements. Students will explore radio, cell phone and fiber optics networks and use systems of equations and inequalities to analyze this technology’s impact in influencing a peoples' resistance.
