Burton High School Physical Education

Physical Education is a social justice subject, there is a fundamental human right for every student to access and participate in a fitness, health, and well-being course.  This course empowers students to advocate for self and community while taking steps towards optimal health.

Physical literacy is an outcome which means each student has the ability to move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in diverse environments that benefit the healthy development of the whole person.  While exploring concepts to gain cognitive skills, engaging in daily moderate to vigorous fitness and sports activities, investigating fitness and health trends, and designing fitness/health projects that involve reading, writing, and presenting, students will become smart advocators of their health with the ability to navigate the world, and find ways to incorporate a healthy active lifestyle daily and be comfortable in their body and mind.

Physical Education Mission Statement

All Burton students will become physically literate in 21st century physical education, lifelong fitness, and wellness.
