The Counseling Program at Balboa High School provides a safe and compassionate environment for students to develop a sense of self, growth-mindset, and social justice identity. As school leaders, we advocate for our students’ academic and socio-emotional well-being through a holistic and solution-oriented framework. As agents of change, our Counseling Program partners with families, community, faculty and staff to challenge systems of oppression in order to provide opportunities for our students to acquire the educational and social competencies necessary for their growth and lifelong success.
Balboa High School’s Counseling Program envisions that our students have a strong sense of self, be growth-minded, and hold social justice awareness. Students are honored for their uniqueness and abilities, are treated with a sense of dignity and worth, while respecting and advocating for themselves and others. They are open to challenges and have the skills and drive to face them. Balboa students are productive and compassionate members of a multi-cultural society. They are socially conscious and engaged in the public discourse, acknowledging the perspectives of a diverse world.
