The Unified Arts grading policy is split into two main components: Performance and Process.
Performance (80%): This part of the grade reflects how well a student demonstrates their skills, knowledge, and understanding in a specific area of the Unified Arts class. The performance grade is based on the quality and accuracy of the student's work, showing their mastery of the content or skills being taught.
Process (20%): The process grade, on the other hand, emphasizes the effort, participation, and learning journey a student takes to achieve their final performance. This includes their practice habits, engagement in class activities, willingness to try new techniques, and overall growth. Even if a student's final product isn't perfect, their dedication and progress throughout the learning process are recognized in this part of the grading.
By weighting performance at 80% and process at 20%, we emphasize the importance of achieving high standards and mastering skills while still valuing the effort and commitment students put into their learning journey. This balanced approach ensures that students are motivated to excel in their final outcomes while also understanding that their growth and dedication along the way are equally important.
If you are absent, you are responsible for finding out what you missed and making up any missed work.
Missing work will receive a 0 in PowerSchool reminding you that it needs to be completed.
The late work penalty is 25% of the total points possible.
For example, assignments are out of 10 points. If an assignment is late, the max score would be a 7.5 out of 10.
Grades are not necessarily entered everyday, late work will be graded and entered as soon as possible.
When an assignment is completed late, students are required to complete the “Late Work Notification” form on Google Classroom in order to receive a grade. If a specific assignment is not included in the “Work Completed” section, it will not be scored. Emails will not be accepted. Please don’t tell me in class, I’m human and I forget things.
Last day to turn in late work is one week before the end of the quarter.
Late: Assignment was turned in late and the grade is based on a 25% penalty.
Missing: The assignment has not been submitted.
