Welcome to 8th grade, where we build on your previous knowledge and take your skills to the next level! This year, we’ll dive into JavaScript programming in order to make interactive apps that we can code up and test out! We will also get to learn about drones and even get to program them to fly! Get ready to push the boundaries of what you can create and innovate in this thrilling year of advanced technology!
JavaScript Programming (code.org)
Overview: Introduction to the App Lab programming environment on code.org, in which students use JavaScript to create interactive apps.
Key Topics: Buttons and events, variables, if-statements, user input and strings, boolean expressions, if-else-if conditional logic.
Drone Programming
Overview: The DroneBlocks Quadcopter Level II Kit introduces students to drone technology through hands-on assembly, coding, and flight missions. Students will explore how drones work, learn to program autonomous flights, and apply STEM concepts in creative challenges.
Key Topics: Drone hardware, sensors, and basic flight principles, Block-based and Python programming for autonomous flight, Using simulators to design, test, and refine missions, Problem-solving, teamwork, and applying STEM to real-world scenarios
