7th Grade

In 7th grade, we take a deeper dive into the world of engineering and technology. This year, you'll explore the importance of precise measurement and how it’s fundamental to engineering. You'll also learn about the engineering design process—how to plan, create, and test solutions to real-world problems. Plus, we'll introduce you to the basics of AI and machine learning which is becoming an important part of lives more and more each day! Prepare for a year of creative problem-solving and technological exploration!

Measurement

• Overview: Students will learn the principles of accurate measurement and its importance in engineering and technology.

• Key Topics: Units of measurement (length, volume, mass), tools for measuring, and precision and accuracy.

The Engineering Process

• Overview: Students will study the engineering design process, which involves problem-solving and creating solutions.

• Key Topics: Steps of the engineering process (ask, imagine, plan, create, test, improve), brainstorming and prototyping.

Dragster Cars

• Overview: Students will learn about various scientific principles that impact the design and testing of a dragster prototype.

• Key Topics: Aerodynamics, weight distribution, drag, shape, friction, mass.

AI Introduction

• Overview: Students will learn core AI concepts and responsible AI practices by acting as AI researchers to solve real-world problems.
