If a student is absent from class for any reason, the following classroom policy must be adhered to:
If a student is absent on the day of an assessment or project due date, it is expected the student will make up the assessment or turn in the project on the day he/she returns unless prior accommodations are made with the teacher.
It is the student's responsibility to find out what was missed and get all appropriate materials on his/her own immediately upon return to school.
Students can identify what was missed in several places/ways:
In Google Classroom on the posted daily agenda slides
The link to the daily agenda in the Team Homework Calendar
Asking the teacher at the end of class or asking a peer in the class
Or, here on my website.
If a student is absent for one day (beginning on the day something was assigned), they have one day to make up the work and turn it in. Likewise, if a student is absent on the day something is assigned and they are out for two days, they will have two days to make it up. If a student is absent beyond two days, it is up to the student to make arrangements with the teacher for an appropriate timeline for make-up work to be completed.
It is the student's responsibility to turn in make-up work by the make-up due date (as outlined above). If a student fails to turn in make-up work on time, points will be deducted in accordance with the late work policy.
In the case of electronic assignments (most are), it is the student's responsibility to notify the teacher via email that the assignment was turned in. This step is crucial as I do not receive notifications that assignments are turned in. Failure to notify the teacher will result in a late penalty or a zero.
