The mineral physics group at Sewanee: The University of the South studies the material properties of geological materials at extreme pressures and temperatures to better understand the constitution and evolution of planetary interiors. Our current focus is on combining theoretical ab initio calculations and synchrotron-based diamond anvil cell experiments to better constrain the distribution and cycling of hydrogen in the deep Earth.
