Hebrews 12:1 says: Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us* and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith. Let us imagine ourselves in that arena.
James 5 highlights the power of prayer, confession, and intercession. The Prayers of the Righteous are efficacious.
We are called to Pray wtihout ceasing.
We ask for the intercession of Holy Men and Women (Hebrews 12:1) because Scripture teaches that the prayers of the righteous are effective (James 5:16). As members of Christ’s Body and His Church, the faithful departed remain united to Christ’s Body and His Church, and they make offerings to God in God’s throne room (Revelation 8).

"This is an opportunity for spiritual growth!" has been my advice to many people associated with Seton Schools in the recent past. And now, with the recent diagnosis of lung cancer, I know that this challenge is an opportunity for spiritual growth for me and my family and others. The opportunity for spiritual growth is not just prayers for healing of my cancer, but healing for many through prayer and what is called "redemptive suffering".
In 2018, after a retreat led by Fr. James Blount, members of Seton Parish and Schools began gathering weekly to pray for the "Youth of Wayne County". I gathered regularly with this group for several years. Although I continued to pray for this intention, I stopped gathering regularly with the prayer group. However, this prayer group continues to this day at St. Andrew Church on Mondays at 3:30pm. As part of "redemptive prayer" I'd like to invite you to pray for the intention of the Youth of Wayne County as we also offer up any suffering, small or great, that we may experience.
It is good for us to "lean into" what God provides. Whether God provides gifts, talents, comfort, or struggles, we need to lean into these gifts because that is how He is leading us to a deeper relationship with Him. Here are some ways to lean into the prayer intention of "Youth of Wayne County" and to pray for healing of cancer.

Be a prayerful example to those around you. Go to mass, or worship service. Be active in a prayer group. Present yourself to the Sacraments. Seek to understand the roots of your worship. Exhort friends and family. Listen to your parents. Be a good example to friends. Consume media appropriately. (There will be a "useful links" page.)
Attend the prayer group that prays for the Youth of Wayne County at 3:30pm at St. Andrew Church, 235 South 5th Street.
Attend other prayer groups that you may start.
