Interpreting ALEKS Scores
Contact: Amy Beninati, abeninati@setonhill.edu, if you need additional information on ALEKS Placement scores.
General Notes
Students will see a score immediately upon finishing the Placement.
If a student does not complete the ALEKS Placement during the allotted time of 2 hours, a score will NOT be generated. The student must retake the assessment.
Students may choose to retake the assessment after reviewing a minimum of 5 hours in the Learning Modules.
Only the highest ALEKS score is retained.
Students that place into a higher course after registration may schedule the higher-level course, if space is available.
Students with AP, CHS, or dual-enrollment credits will be scheduled for the next sequential course. However, first-year students are still required to complete the Placement Assessment and are encouraged to review in the Learning Modules.
Scores are not "grades". Required scores for each course are listed below.
COURSE PREREQUISITES
1.) Students can take the prerequisite course at Seton Hill OR achieve the minimum ALEKS score.
2.) ALEKS scores are valid for 2 semesters or one academic year.

They can see their own score compared to general cut score information and the course into which they placed at Seton Hill University. A breakdown of the results shows how students performed in different topic categories.
After viewing the Placement Assessment results, students will be directed to the Prep and Learning Modules to begin working towards increasing their mathematical knowledge. Click on Start my Path.
