Village Math

Village math / by Alan Dick. Alaska Native Knowledge Network, 2012.

Description: "Village math is unique it that it introduces math to young people in a culturally-relevant way using scenarios found in everyday life in Alaska's rural areas. The problems represent real life issues the author wrestled with while making a living in Alaska's rural villages and communities. It is one matter to know how to do problems as they come in sequence in a math book. It is another matter to confront a problem in life and determine what math skills to apply to solve that problem. The target audience is middle school, but may problems apply to older and younger students as well"--P.[4 ] of t.p.
