What is Early Education and Care?
The Early Education and Care SOAR program allows students to:
Experience the joy of creating fun and amazing activities for children who are full of life and love learning
Influence the future of children by shaping their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development
Create, research, and provide developmentally appropriate learning materials and activities that make learning fun
What can you do with this training?
EEC certified preschool teacher
Teacher's assistant
Potential Certifications
Students graduating from the program with 150 hands on hours working with students and a grade of a B or higher will be eligible for an EEC preschool teacher certification.
Training Needed
Students in the Early Education and Care SOAR program need to maintain a letter grade of a B or higher and complete 150 hours of hands on experience with preschool students.
After High School Success
After graduating High School, students will possess a level of professionalism, attention to details and clear communication needed to successfully obtain and keep a job in the early education field. These job readiness skills translate across many industries and will be used for their entire career.
After SOAR Completion Success Paths
After the SOAR program is complete, students should be able to obtain an entry level position in Early Education or pursue advanced study at a college.
Meet the Instructors
Michelle Packard
Ms. Packard is currently the Early Education instructor for the freshman and Sophomore class at Southeastern. She is an alumni of Southeastern and holds a degree in Early Education from Bridgewater State. She has worked in the field with all age groups and prior to joining Southeastern owned and operated her own child care center. She is excited to be at Southeastern instilling a love and passion for all things early education.
Kelly Griffin
Ms. Griffin has 6 years of experience in the preschool field. She graduated from Bridgewater State University with a M.Ed in Special Education and Colby Sawyer College with a BS. in Child Development. Her favorite thing about teaching is watching the kids connect and make relationships.
