The Youth Brain Injury Program is a system of support for Alaska students with brain injury.
The program's certified brain injury specialists partner with families and school districts across the state to meet the educational needs of students with acute or remote brain injuries.

A. District Consultation related to Concussion Policy and Protocols. District Protocol Guidebook can be found here.
B. Staff Professional Development
General training on brain injury, learning implications and classroom solutions for student success
General education for staff: acute symptoms and temporary solutions
Student Services /Special Education staff: Pre-Existing or prolonged symptoms and IEP collaboration
C. Student and family education
D. Consultation for assistance in developing temporary/informal or formal education plans
Collaborative services with the Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice

A. Brain injury screening for all justice involved youth with the Rapid Alaska Brain Injury Tool (RABIT). Screener can be found here.
B. Support from program coordinators to connect youth with community and school resources addressing TBI related challenges that contribute to poor outcomes, such as increased recidivism and crime.
