The Youth Brain Injury Program is funded by the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and partners with: The University of Oregon Center for Brain Injury Research and Training (CBIRT), The Alaska Division of Public Health, and  The Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice.

Meet your Certified Brain Injury Specialists and coordinators for the Youth Brain Injury Program. 

Sena Gilbert, State Coordinator

Sena has a background as a Speech Language Pathologist.   She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and a member of the Brain Injury Council of Alaska. Prior to her work with SERRC,  Sena was employed as a medical Speech Language Pathologist for 12 years in Fairbanks, AK.  She has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of cognitive communication disorders resulting from brain injuries. This background drives her passion for improving community collaboration and developing training and practices that support students and families impacted by brain injury across Alaska.

Outside of work you’re likely to find Sena with her husband and three children taking advantage of the endless outdoor recreation opportunities Alaska has to offer.

Sarah Moreau, Regional Coordinator

Sarah has a background in Special Education with an emphasis in blindness and visual impairments. She has experience in Texas and Alaska as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialists, and Low Vision Rehabilitation Therapists, and moat recently obtained certification as a Brain Injury Specialist.  Sarah has worked and continues to work with those with a visual impairment and neurological based visual impairments within the state of all age ranges. 

When Sarah is not working with SERRC, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son flying around exploring the beauty Alaska has to offer.
