One of the most exciting initiatives underway within the Sequoia Union Elementary Agriculture Program is the development of our 5-acre student farm, a dedicated space where students can experience agriculture beyond the classroom.
Located adjacent to our school, these five donated acres are being transformed into a hands-on agricultural learning environment where students can grow, explore, care for animals, develop responsibility, and experience firsthand the agriculture that surrounds our Central Valley community.
Our vision is bigger than simply building a farm. We are creating a living outdoor classroom that can grow alongside our Agriculture Program and serve generations of Sequoia Union students.
Our conceptual site plan provides a look at how five acres can become a working student farm and outdoor agricultural learning environment.
The farm is planned to include spaces for growing, livestock, hands-on learning, agricultural projects, and other opportunities that allow students to experience agriculture firsthand.
Development will happen in phases as funding, partnerships, infrastructure, and educational opportunities grow. Like agriculture itself, this farm will continue to evolve with the needs of our students and Agriculture Program.
Conceptual site plan — individual elements and placement may evolve as the project develops.
The transformation is already underway! With the generosity of our community and early partners, the five-acre site has progressed from untouched donated land to active farm development.
Preparing the land is only the beginning! Transforming our 5 acres into a fully functioning student farm requires irrigation, fencing, growing areas, livestock facilities, equipment, and outdoor learning spaces.
Agriculture takes time, and every season matters. The sooner we establish our farm infrastructure, plant crops, and develop learning spaces, the sooner our students can experience the benefits of hands-on agricultural education.
We need our community's help to keep this project moving forward! Whether through financial sponsorships, donated materials, equipment, professional services, agricultural expertise, or volunteer involvement, every contribution brings us closer to our vision.
