Highlander Work

For my second and third year of journalism, I have gotten the chance to produce work for Highlander, the print magazine of Carlmont High School.

For my first Highlander article, I wrote about the cons of social media. I mainly talked about the mental health risks and the time consumption aspect that comes with social media.

Decades ago, kids had so many more options for classes than before. I asked, where have all these classes gone? The answer is actually quite complicated, and it mainly is centered around California's Proposition 13 which is explained in my article.

For my last article of my junior year, I wrote a profile on Just One Cookbook, an influential Japanese food blog. I wrote about how they built their blog and what they are doing to continue their work.

For my first article of senior year I decided to take an interesting community angle: the people that don't celebrate the holidays. While it was hard to find those types of people, I figured out the niches of what people do and don't celebrate and turned it into one cohesive article.
