These were the Grade Five inquiry projects for 2020-2021
Our Grade 5 team and students have wrapped this year's PYP Exhibition. One addition to this year's Exhibition was the more explicit use of process journals. How we use, set up and co-create the parameters for student journals in our classrooms is a pivotal building block for developing a culture centered on evidencing learning. Students become effective, self-regulated learners when they are actively engaged in assessment and act on constructive feedback.
A student portfolio, our classroom displays, our learning stories and student journals should all therefore be set up with the intention of being inclusive spaces where students and teachers can document, track and collect the process of learning over the course of the year. When we glimpse best practice in generative or inquiry-led classrooms we see protocols, routines and systems for students to reflect on their progress, set goals for their learning, make decisions about what they need to do to achieve these goals and have space to document these processes.
