Our Black Box Theatre provided the perfect space to setup the Experience. Totally enclosed (no windows) and all surfaces painted black. The floor area was 20 metres by 15 metres, much bigger than we needed.
This Experience could be done in a much smaller space, but the blackout would be important.
The space also provided hanging space as well. There were balconies that allowed us to place the insignias up high giving the sense of size. More importantly the balconies provided the opportunity to hand two large red banners with insignias. With spotlights shining upwards in front of the banners, the image was imposing.
It is important to have a space outside the Experience to prep students in terms of what they are going to see and what the focus is as well as technical issues such as making sure they have the YouTube app on their device and are logged into the Aurasma channel. Peter also used this space to debrief the students about what they had experienced and tie that to the focus on propaganda.
