Applications
DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR NCLEX APPLICATION TO THE VIRGINIA BOARD OF NURSING MORE THAN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO GRADUATING! This is a note directly from the Virginia Board of Nursing. Applying earlier can cause delays in your application being processed.
If your application asks for the date of graduation, please use May 9, 2025. You can submit your application to the Board of Nursing after April 25th.
VERY IMPORTANT for Virginia Wesleyan students: you will use VWU's graduation date of May 17, 2025 for your application as that is your home school. You can submit your application after May 3, 2025.
Name Changes
If you recently changed your name and have already received your new driver's license and SSN card but have not changed it with the college yet, please click here to complete the secure Name Change Form via DocuSign. You'll be able to securely upload a copy of your new driver's license and SSN card to this form. When to Expect Exam Results
Apply for the NCLEX through the Virginia Board of Nursing and register to sit for the exam through Pearson VUE.
The NCLEX School Code for Sentara College of Health Sciences' BSN Program is US28502900.
After you initially graduate, we will send in an official transcript to the state you are testing in. If you are testing in Virginia, you will be included on the attestation letter.
Click here to complete the form to indicate where you are testing (VA or another state). The form is due by May 9, 2025.
From NCSBN:
Candidates who need to retake the NCLEX can start their reregistration process after receiving their result. They will need to notify their Nursing Regulatory Body (NRB) that they plan on retaking the examination and fulfill any necessary requirements, as well as reregister with Pearson VUE. While the process can start quickly, it is important to note that there must be 45 test-free days between each examination.
The NCSBN retake policy allows candidates to take the NCLEX eight times per year unless the desired jurisdiction of licensure/registration only offers a limited amount of NCLEX exams per year. Candidates are encouraged to contact their NRB to learn about their policy on NCLEX retakes.
