To end Session on a particular day.
A change made to a bill that adds or removes language from a bill.
An idea to amend or add sections to a law.
Recommended spending of state money presented by the Governor to the House and Senate. Virginia has a two year budget.
The city where the government of a state is located. For example, the capital of Virginia is Richmond and the capital of North Carolina is Raleigh.
A building where a state government meets. The Capitol building is in the capital city of Richmond, Virginia.
The daily printed list of bills for the Senate or the House of Delegates.
A small group of legislators from the Senate or the House of Delegates who meet to discuss bills. This is when the public can share their thoughts. These small groups decide whether or not to send a bill to the full Senate or House.

Bills become law July 1 in the year they are passed.
