My lab is broadly focused on how viruses are affected by various factors that may influence their replication. Often this is due to what the host has experienced. See below for details about specific projects currently underway.
We are interested in how pollutants can affect mosquito development and virus replication.
We are investigating how viruses that infect bacteria replicate in their hosts.
As a recent transplant to Louisiana, I've quickly learned that it is "crawfish" instead of the scientifically correct "crayfish." This virus was introduced around 15 years ago, and can devastate crawfish farms.
This project grew out of a Virology class lab experiment. We're initially investigating the prevalence and diversity of herpesviruses in student saliva.

This logo was designed by my graphic designer extraordinaire, Madeline Anderson. It is a combination of a mosquito and a bacteriophage. We hadn't started the crawfish project at the time, but I think that still falls under entomology (close enough) and virology.
