LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE
Welcome to a vibrant world of discovery designed specifically to spark the imagination of our youngest inquirers. Home to over 5,000 resources, including colourful picture books, early readers, and engaging posters, our EY LRC provides the perfect foundation for early literacy. Furnished with cosy, kid-friendly seating and equipped with a variety of interactive educational toys. The EY LRC offers a safe and stimulating environment where storytelling and play seamlessly come together to support student-led inquiry.
Our library became even more special on Kartini Day as our Early Years Read Aloud session turned into a warm celebration of Indonesian culture and inspiring stories.
Dressed beautifully in batik and kebaya, students, teachers, and staff marked the occasion with pride. During the session, our youngest learners were introduced to the story of Raden Ajeng Kartini and her fight for women’s right to education.
During the session, the children were introduced to the inspiring story of Raden Ajeng Kartini and her struggle for women’s right to education. Through storytelling, they learned that there was once a time when girls did not have the same opportunities to learn as boys, and that Kartini bravely spoke up for equal access to education. In a simple and child-friendly way, the story helped our Early Years students begin to understand the importance of courage, learning, and opportunity.
We also shared that Kartini’s spirit continues to live on today through the many women who educate, guide, and inspire others. We encouraged the children to see their own teachers as examples of this same spirit. It was a joyful and heartwarming library moment that celebrated both our rich heritage and the lasting power of education.
On 23 April, the Learning Resource Centre became a warm and welcoming space during the EY Grandparents’ Day celebration. As part of the “Walking Down Memory Lane” theme, the LRC proudly hosted Station 9, where grandparents and grandchildren came together for a special Read Aloud session filled with stories, memories, and shared moments.
The session created a lovely exchange across generations, as grandparents shared stories from their younger days whilst students proudly demonstrated how they use modern library tools today. More than just a reading activity, it was a heartwarming reminder that the library can be a place where stories connect the past and present in meaningful ways.
