The Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program provides vocational and rehabilitative services to individuals with disabilities to help them prepare for, secure, regain or retain employment. Persons with disabilities face some challenges in today’s modern workplace. We believe that people with disabilities, given the right opportunities can work and be fully integrated into mainstream society and the work place. Vocational rehabilitation services can reduce or remove barriers to employment.
RSA Eligibility and Intake Process
The Rehabilitation Services Administration requires all prospective clients to complete the RSA Intake Form. The application process is the first step in meeting your employment goal. You will work with an assigned Counselor to validate your eligibility for services and develop an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
At a high level, the following items are considered for eligibility:
The physical or mental impairment constitutes or results in a substantial impediment to employment.
The Individual's employment outcome can benefit for vocational rehabilitation services.
The Individual requires vocational rehabilitation services in order to meet their employment goal
An eligibility decision will be made within 60 days after a client applies for services in most cases. Periodically, additional time may be required to further evaluate the Individual's eligibility. Clients who are currently receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for their disability are eligible for vocational rehabilitation services if they intend to secure employment.
