Writing

Students will start off the year writing a personal narrative. Students are learn how to write a beginning, middle, and end to a story and add details to their stories. Throughout the year students will be learning how to use commas, quotation marks and other punctuation. 

Then students will work on writing thank you letters and also reading responses.

In January we will be starting a unit on opinion writing.

In the month of April we work on writing different forms of poetry. 

We finish the year working on a nonfiction writing unit. They will be learning to put information/new learning into their own words.They will also be using prior knowledge to assist them in their writing.
