Andrew Fischer

Director of Bands

Mr. Fischer is entering his fourth year at Smith-Cotton. Mr. Fischer leads the band program in Sedalia 200, assisting with all beginning band and orchestra classes as well as 7th and 8th grade band, and high school concert, jazz, and marching bands.

He served previously as Director of Bands in the Cole Camp School District and started his career in Kingston, Arkansas as the K-12 music teacher. Mr. Fischer received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Arkansas in 2015 and completed a Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of Central Missouri in 2022.

Mr. Fischer currently serves as the Band Vice-President Elect for the West Central District of the Missouri Music Educators Association, formerly served as the Jazz Vice-President and holds professional affiliations with the National Association for Music Education, the Missouri Music Educators Association, the Missouri Bandmasters Association, the Missouri Association for Jazz Education, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. In addition to his duties with Sedalia 200, Mr. Fischer is an adjunct music instructor at State Fair Community College.

Stephen Broadbent

Associate Director of Bands

Mr. Broadbent is in his 15th year serving as the Director of Junior High Bands for the Sedalia 200 School District. He received Bachelor and Master degrees in Music at Truman State University.

Tricia Walker

Color Guard Coordinator

Coach Walker is entering her fifth year as the color guard coordinator for Smith-Cotton High School. She is in charge of the fall and winter seasons of color guard. Mrs. Walker is also a second-grade teacher at Skyline Elementary.

Mrs. Walker earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Missouri in 2021. She is a Smith-Cotton alumna and was active in the color guard during her high school experience.

Jason Joy

Percussion Coordinator

Mr. Joy is entering his fourth year working with the Smith-Cotton percussion students. His duties include rehearsing the Tiger Pride Drumline and the SCHS Winter Percussion as well as working with percussion students on their solo and small ensemble events in the spring. Mr. Joy is a proud graduate of Smith-Cotton High School.
