Sessions 7 & 8
How can elementary teachers design interactive and responsive learning opportunities that engage English learners in deepening content knowledge, meaning making, and authentic writing? This two-part module, with embedded pre-session work and follow-up application and reflection, will spotlight how teachers play a critical role in supporting students’ ability to navigate through complex texts and topics while providing strategic supports and scaffolds that build towards independence. Teachers will leave the two sessions with techniques for Integrated and Designated ELD that both prepare students for complex academic tasks as well as respond to their individual linguistic strengths and needs.
