Observations
OBSERVATION 1
AIM: To observe how different types of threads react when white cement is used as the solution.
MATERIALS: Sewing cotton thread, Embroidery thread, Thin Crochet thread, Thick crochet thread, Thin, shiny crochet thread, Woolen thread.
PROCEDURE:
Make holes on the sun board.
Tie the different types of threads to it.
Make a slurry of white cement and water.
Apply it to the threads.
Hand it upside down to dry.
After drying, test the rigidity of the different threads.
Before applying white cement
After applying white cement & drying
READINGS: The thicker threads i.e. Woolen thread, embroidery thread and thick crochet thread were more rigid than the others.
OBSERVATION 2
AIM: To test the rigidity of different types of threads when subjected to glue as a solution.
MATERIALS: Sewing cotton thread, embroidery thread, woolen thread, thick crochet thread, thin crochet thread, thin, shiny crochet thread, jute thread, fevicol, sun board.
PROCEDURE:
Make holes in the sun board.
Tie the different types of threads to it.
Applying fevicol to the threads.
Hang it upside down to dry.
After drying, turn it upside to check the amount of rigidity obtained through fevicol.
Before applying fevicol
After applying fevicol & drying
READINGS: The jute, embroidery & the thin, shiny crochet thread were a bit stronger than the others.
