Exploring the techniques of casting concrete without the help of any formwork. How can one cast cement without formwork? Using different types of materials to cast such as Cotton fabric, Georgette fabric and Polyethene. Keeping this materials in tension and pouring concrete on it and casting it with the help of this materials. Using different grades of concrete will also help to know how the materials in tension reacts with it. In this project we will observe on the settling time, surfaces of the concrete whether they are smooth or rough, color of the casting and how it settles on the surface of the fabrics.
Experiment 1.1 :- Cotton Fabric and 1:2 grade Concrete.
Aim: To cast the concrete with the help of the Cotton fabric which is kept in tension and using the 1:2 grade of the concrete.
Materials Required: Cement, water, Sand, Cotton Fabric, Plywood piece (which is used as base ), Tumblr(used as measuring tool) and Nails.
Procedure:
Put the cotton fabric in the tension and hammered it with the nails from all side to put it in tension.
Make the mixture of Cement and Sand in ratio of 1:2 respectively. Slowly add water into it,
Pour mixture slowly on the top of the fabric. Settle it on the fabric properly and keep it for drying.
Observations :
The settling time required for concrete which is poured on the cotton fabric is settled out in 3 hours.
After drying up there were no cracks found on the surface of the casted concrete.
While pouring concrete on the cotton fabric it settled on the fabric well.
The surface of the concrete is smooth.
Experiment 1.2 :- Cotton Fabric and 1:4 grade Concrete.
Aim: To cast the concrete with the help of the Cotton fabric which is kept in tension and using the 1:4 grade of the concrete.
Materials required: Cement, water, Sand, Cotton Fabric, Plywood piece (which is used as base ), Tumblr(used as measuring tool) and Nails.
Procedure:
Put the cotton fabric in the tension and hammered it with the nails from all side to put it in tension.
Make the mixture of Cement and Sand in ratio of 1:4 respectively. Slowly add water into it,
Pour mixture slowly on the top of the fabric. Settle it on the fabric properly and keep it for drying.
Observations :
The settling time required for concrete which is poured on the cotton fabric is settled out in 4:30 hours.
After drying up there were no cracks found on the surface of the casted concrete.
While pouring concrete on the cotton fabric it settled on the fabric well.
The surface of the concrete is rough.
Experiment 2.1 :- Polyethene and 1:2 grade Concrete.
Aim: To cast the concrete with the help of the Polyethene which is kept in tension and using the 1:2 grade of the concrete.
Materials required: Cement, water, Sand, Polyethene, Plywood piece (which is used as base ), Tumblr(used as measuring tool) and Nails.
Procedure:
Put the Polyethene in the tension and hammered it with the nails from all side to put it in tension.
Make the mixture of Cement and Sand in ratio of 1:2 respectively. Slowly add water into it,
Pour mixture slowly on the top of the Polyethene. Settle it on the fabric properly and keep it for drying.
Observations :
The settling time required for concrete which is poured on the Polyethene is settled out in 3:30 hours.
After drying up there were cracks found on the surface of the casted concrete.
While pouring concrete on the Polyethene it slips downside of the Polyethene. It was not settling easily.
The surface of the concrete is smooth.
Experiment 2.2 :- Polyethene and 1:4 grade Concrete.
Aim: To cast the concrete with the help of the Polyethene which is kept in tension and using the 1:4 grade of the concrete.
Materials required: Cement, water, Sand, Polyethene, Plywood piece (which is used as base ), Tumblr(used as measuring tool) and Nails.
Procedure:
Put the Polyethene in the tension and hammered it with the nails from all side to put it in tension.
Make the mixture of Cement and Sand in ratio of 1:4 respectively. Slowly add water into it,
Pour mixture slowly on the top of the Polyethene. Settle it on the fabric properly and keep it for drying.
Observations :
The settling time required for concrete which is poured on the Polyethene is settled out in 5 hours.
After drying up there were cracks found on the surface of the casted concrete.
While pouring concrete on the Polyethene it slips downside of the Polyethene. It was not settling easily.
The surface of the concrete is rough.
Experiment 3.1 :- Georgette Fabric and 1:2 grade Concrete.
Aim: To cast the concrete with the help of the Georgette fabric which is kept in tension and using the 1:2 grade of the concrete.
Materials required: Cement, water, Sand, Georgette fabric, Plywood piece (which is used as base ), Tumblr(used as measuring tool) and Nails.
Procedure:
Put the Georgette fabric in the tension and hammered it with the nails from all side to put it in tension.
Make the mixture of Cement and Sand in ratio of 1:2 respectively. Slowly add water into it,
Pour mixture slowly on the top of the Georgette fabric. Settle it on the fabric properly and keep it for drying.
Observations :
The settling time required for concrete which is poured on the Georgette fabric is settled out in 3 hours.
After drying up there were no cracks found on the surface of the casted concrete.
While pouring concrete on the Georgette fabric it settled on it easily.
The surface of the concrete is smooth.
Experiment 3.2 :- Georgette Fabric and 1:4 grade Concrete.
Aim: To cast the concrete with the help of the Georgette fabric which is kept in tension and using the 1:4 grade of the concrete.
Materials required: Cement, water, Sand, Georgette fabric, Plywood piece (which is used as base ), Tumblr(used as measuring tool) and Nails.
Procedure:
Put the Georgette fabric in the tension and hammered it with the nails from all side to put it in tension.
Make the mixture of Cement and Sand in ratio of 1:4 respectively. Slowly add water into it,
Pour mixture slowly on the top of the Georgette fabric. Settle it on the fabric properly and keep it for drying.
Observations :
The settling time required for concrete which is poured on the Georgette fabric is settled out in 4:30 hours.
After drying up there were no cracks found on the surface of the casted concrete.
While pouring concrete on the Georgette fabric it settled on it easily.
The surface of the concrete is rough.
