Design Intend: The houses showed a particular pattern of all the designated funtions or the so called rooms/ ghar of the house were on different levels. Similarly the design intended to have multiple levels where the space is not defined. The nature of the triangular roof distributed the heat equally and barrel vaults give the same function. The barrel vaults give an effect of the portal and the play of nuances which happen in the space was something the design intended to focus on. Based on the patterns of the houses and case studies of Nari Gandhi's work in such typological sites I came upon vaults as a structual element.
