SITE DETAIL

Site is located in Sewri, Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is a estuary land, rich in biodiversity. Site has industrial area in north and settlements in its west. West of the site is where the land meets flowing sweet and salty water which comes from the city. Site is geographically situated on the basalt rock hill which has irregular slopes.

As the near by water body has both sweet and salty nature, it makes a perfect habitat for crocodiles, fishes, Mangroves and Flamingos to inhabit.

The environment and the economy are both two sides of the same coin. If we cannot sustain the environment , we cannot sustain ourselves.

Design

Programe of the site is to design Research and Observatory Centre. Therefore the space is rebuild by adding variety trees.

The intent was to build a space which is a merge between landscape and the build form. As the programe says observatory and research center, the idea to build an environment where humans are like fly on the wall observing and learning about the biodiversity around.
