As we have done for the past several years several returning players with final differentials of 5.0 or higher will be required to tryout again for this year. The following players are required to be at this tryout:

For all Tryouts:
-Please be respectful of our courses.
-DO Dive slowly and safely on and near club grounds.
-DO NOT go into the Clubhouse or Pro Shop
-Come dressed appropriately in appropriate golf attire.
-Shirts tucked in
-Hats facing forward
-No cargo shorts or jeans
-DO NOT get dressed or put on your shoes in the parking lot of our courses
-DO Come warmed up and ready to tee off. We do NOT have access to the range at most of our courses.
-Parents/Galleries ARE NOT PERMITTED on the course or Club grounds. Parents please wait in their cars in the parking lots. Wed also ask parents who are members of our courses to follow these same rules.
– Range finders and pull/push carts ARE permitted (Non-GPS ONLY)
-Do NOT arrive more than 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time, unless otherwise noted. DO wait in the parking lot for either Coach Drake or Coach Chess to arrive. IF YOU ARE ON THE COURSE, CLUB GROUNDS, OR PUTTING GREEN BEFORE A COACH ARRIVES YOU WILL BE CUT FROM THE TEAM ON THE SPOT. Coaches will be there at 11:30 (La Costa) and 2:15 (Fairbanks)
-You may not leave school early to warm up or practice before a tryout. Unless instructed by the coaches to do so an early release from class will be issued.
-SDUHSD policy states that students may only be driven by themselves or their parents. Students may NOT drive other students to or from matches or practice.
- Early releases will be provided on the tryout days. Be sure to let your teacher know at the BEGGINNING of the period that you have an early release.
Tryout Procedures:
On-Course Tryout: Golfers who make it off of the range will be invited to play in anon course tryout. This tryout will take place at courses that will be announced on Saturday, February 5, . The dates for the on-course tryout will be Monday, February 12- Tuesday, February 13. If necessary a 3rd tryout round on Wednesday, February 14 may be added. All tee times will be at approximately 12:00 PM for 18-hole rounds and 3:00PM for 9-hole rounds. Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program. Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.
Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.

2024 TPHS Boy’s Golf Tryout Procedures
TPHS Boy’s Golf program will, for the 5th year in a row, be running two Varsity Golf squads this season. This allows us to provide more opportunities for players to participate. However, due to limits on course times and availability, there will be cuts.
Tryout Dates and Times
Range Tryout:
Saturday, FEBRUARY 10, 8:15AM-1:30 PM Del Mar Golf Center (http://www.delmargolfcenter.com/)
Only golfers who were not part of the program during the 2023 season are required to attend the range tryout.
Golfers will be assigned a specific time to arrive at the driving range. See the team website @ https://sites.google.com/sduhsd.net/tphsboysgolf2020 for your specific time slot
On-Course Tryouts:
Weather permitting each player who makes it to the on-course tryout should get at least 18-holes

Golfers will be evaluated on over-all swing, consistency, accuracy with a variety of clubs and distances, chipping, and putting. Cuts will be made following the range tryout.
On-Course Tryout: Golfers who make it off of the range will be invited to play in anon course tryout. This tryout will take place at courses that will be announced on Saturday, February 10, . The dates for the on-course tryout will be Monday, February 12- Wednesday, February 14. All tee times will be at approximately 12:00 PM for 18-hole rounds and 2:30PM for 9-hole rounds. Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program. Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.

Who Should Tryout:
TPHS Golf tryouts are for any student who wishes to play golf for TPHS. However, our program is a highly competitive and varsity only. In general players who are part of the TPHS golf team have been playing golf for several years and participate in competitive tournaments regularly. We play full courses (par 70-72) and tee off from the back tees at most locations. Team members generally are committed to practicing daily with the team or on their own and may take lessons regularly. Players should also have a firm grasp on the rules and etiquette of golf. We encourage any TP student who has the desire to be part of our program to participate in tryouts.

TPHS Golf Night with the San Diego Padres
We have already have purchased 33 for the Padres vs. Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday May 2. So far only 9 of theses tickets have been spoken for. Please tell Coach Drake ASAP if you would like these tickets for your families or friends. You can buy as many as you would like for $25.50 each.
When Surveyed 17 members of the team said they wanted to attend the Padres Game as a team. So we purchased 33 tickets (over 40 were requested in the survey).

-DO Dive slowly and safely on and near club grounds.
-DO NOT go into the Clubhouse or Pro Shop
-Come dressed appropriately in appropriate golf attire.
-Shirts tucked in
-Hats facing forward
-No cargo shorts or jeans
-DO NOT get dressed or put on your shoes in the parking lot of our courses
-DO Come warmed up and ready to tee off. We do NOT have access to the range at most of our courses.
-Parents/Galleries ARE NOT PERMITTED on the course or Club grounds. Parents please wait in their cars in the parking lots. Wed also ask parents who are members of our courses to follow these same rules.
– Range finders and pull/push carts ARE permitted (Non-GPS ONLY)
-Do NOT arrive more than 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time, unless otherwise noted. DO wait in the parking lot for either Coach Drake or Coach Chess to arrive. IF YOU ARE ON THE COURSE, CLUB GROUNDS, OR PUTTING GREEN BEFORE A COACH ARRIVES YOU WILL BE CUT FROM THE TEAM ON THE SPOT.
-You may not leave school early to warm up or practice before a tryout. Unless instructed by the coaches to do so an early release from class will be issued.
-SDUHSD policy states that students may only be driven by themselves or their parents. Students may NOT drive other students to or from matches or practice.
- Early releases will be provided on the tryout days.
Tryout Procedures:
Range Tryout: All student-athletes who were not part of the team last year are required to participate in the driving range tryout. Golfers will be evaluated on over-all swing, consistency, accuracy with a variety of clubs and distances, chipping, and putting. Cuts will be made following the range tryout.
On-Course Tryout: Golfers who make it off of the range will be invited to play in anon course tryout. This tryout will take place at courses that will be announced on Saturday, February 11, . The dates for the on-course tryout will be Monday, February 13- Wednesday, February 15. All tee times will be at approximately 12:30 PM for 18-hole rounds and 2:30PM for 9-hole rounds. Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program. Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.
Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.

2023 TPHS Boy’s Golf Tryout Procedures
TPHS Boy’s Golf program will, for the 5th year in a row, be running two Varsity Golf squads this season. This allows us to provide more opportunities for players to participate. However, due to limits on course times and availability, there will be cuts.
Tryout Dates and Times
Range Tryout:
Saturday, FEBRUARY 11, 8:15AM-12:30 PM Del Mar Golf Center (http://www.delmargolfcenter.com/)
Only golfers who were not part of the program during the 2022 season are required to attend the range tryout.
Golfers will be assigned a specific time to arrive at the driving range. See the team website @ https://sites.google.com/sduhsd.net/tphsboysgolf2020 for your specific time slot
On-Course Tryouts:

End of the Season Team Banquet May 19 @ The Heights (Formerly Bernardo Heights Country Club)
What: The end of the season banquet is final time during the season for the whole TPHS Golf community to come together and celebrate the season.
When: Thursday, May 19 5-8PM

Who: All members of the TPHS Golf Team (Cardinal. Gold, and JV) and Families. The team is covering meals for the players, Parents and families can pre-pay for dinner ($25/person) via a link that will be emailed soon. Please reserve your spot by May 8.
UPDATED: Mid-Season Team and Family Dinner Tuesday March 29
Please come Join the entire team to celebrate the mid-way point of the season on Tuesday, March 29 following the Cardinal vs. Classical Academy Match.
When: about 6:00 PM-7:00 PM (The players in the match will get there as soon as we are finished with the match)
Where: Oggis near TPHS (12840 Carmel Country Rd, San Diego, CA 92130) on the back patio.
Who: All members of the TPHS Golf program and parents are invited
Why: This a great opportunity for our program to come together to reflect on and celebrate our half-way point in the 2022 season.

As we have done for the past several years several returning players with final differentials of 2.5 or higher will be required to tryout again for this year. The following players are required to be at this tryout:
For all Tryouts:
-Please be respectful of our courses.
-DO Dive slowly and safely on and near club grounds.
-DO NOT go into the Clubhouse or Pro Shop
-Come dressed appropriately in appropriate golf attire.
-Shirts tucked in
-Hats facing forward
-No cargo shorts or jeans
-DO NOT get dressed or put on your shoes in the parking lot of our courses
-DO Come warmed up and ready to tee off. We do NOT have access to the range at most of our courses.
-Parents/Galleries ARE NOT PERMITTED on the course or Club grounds. Parents please wait in their cars in the parking lots. Wed also ask parents who are members of our courses to follow these same rules.
– Range finders and pull/push carts ARE permitted (Non-GPS ONLY)
-Do NOT arrive more than 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time, unless otherwise noted. DO wait in the parking lot for either Coach Drake or Coach Chess to arrive. IF YOU ARE ON THE COURSE, CLUB GROUNDS, OR PUTTING GREEN BEFORE A COACH ARRIVES YOU WILL BE CUT FROM THE TEAM ON THE SPOT. Coaches will be there at 12:00 (La Costa) and 2:30 (Fairbanks)
-You may not leave school early to warm up or practice before a tryout. Unless instructed by the coaches to do so an early release from class will be issued.
-SDUHSD policy states that students may only be driven by themselves or their parents. Students may NOT drive other students to or from matches or practice.
- Early releases will be provided on the tryout days. Be sure to let your teacehr kow at the BEGGINNING of the period that you have an early release.

The dates for the on-course tryout will be Monday, February 7- Wednesday, February 9. All tee times will be at approximately 12:30 PM for 18-hole rounds and 3:00PM for 9-hole rounds. Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program. Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.
Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.

Only golfers who were not part of the program during the 2021 season are required to attend the range tryout.

Weather permitting each player who makes it to the on-course tryout should get at least 18-holes

-You may not leave school early to warm up or practice before a tryout. Unless instructed by the coaches to do so an early release from class will be issued.
-SDUHSD policy states that students may only be driven by themselves or their parents. Students may NOT drive other students to or from matches or practice.
- Early releases will be provided on the tryout days.
Tryout Procedures:
Range Tryout: All student-athletes who were not part of the team last year are required to participate in the driving range tryout. Golfers will be evaluated on over-all swing, consistency, accuracy with a variety of clubs and distances, chipping, and putting. Cuts will be made following the range tryout.
On-Course Tryout: Golfers who make it off of the range will be invited to play in anon course tryout. This tryout will take place at courses that will be announced on Saturday, February 5, . The dates for the on-course tryout will be Monday, February 7- Wednesday, February 9. All tee times will be at approximately 12:00 PM for 18-hole rounds and 3:00PM for 9-hole rounds. Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program. Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.
Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.

2022 Tryout Information
2022 TPHS Boy’s Golf Tryout Procedures
TPHS Boy’s Golf program will, for the 4th year in a row, be running two Varsity Golf squads this season. This allows us to provide more opportunities for players to participate. However, due to limits on course times and availability, there will be cuts.
Tryout Dates and Times
Range Tryout:
Saturday, FEBRUARY 5, 8:15AM-12:30 PM Del Mar Golf Center (http://www.delmargolfcenter.com/)
Only golfers who were not part of the program during the 2021 season are required to attend the range tryout.
Golfers will be assigned a specific time to arrive at the driving range. See the team website @ https://sites.google.com/sduhsd.net/tphsboysgolf2020 for your specific time slot
On-Course Tryouts:
Weather permitting each player who makes it to the on-course tryout should get at least 18-holes

2021 TPHS Boy’s Golf Tryout Procedures
TPHS Boy’s Golf program will, for the third year in a row, be running two Varsity Golf Teams this season. This allows us to provide more opportunities for players to participate. However, due to limits on course times and availability, there will be cuts.
Tryout Dates and Times
Range Tryout:
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 8:00AM-10:30:AM Del Mar Golf Center (http://www.delmargolfcenter.com/)
Only golfers who were not part of the program during the 2020 season are required to attend the range tryout.
Golfers will be assigned a specific time to arrive at the driving range. See the team website @ https://sites.google.com/sduhsd.net/tphsboysgolf2020 for your specific time slot
On-Course Tryouts:
Weather permitting each player who makes it to the on-course tryout should get at least 18-holes
Monday, February 15, 2:45 PM Course TBA: New Players who make it off the range and Returners.
Thursday, February 18, 2:00PM Course TBA (9-Holes):
Your specific tee time and course will be posted on the team blog on WITHIN AN HOUR OF THE RANGE TRYOUT CONCLUDING
For all Tryouts:
-Please be respectful of our courses.
-DO Dive slowly and safely on and near club grounds.
-DO NOT go into the Clubhouse or Pro Shop
-Come dressed appropriately in appropriate golf attire.
-Shirts tucked in
-Hats facing forward
-No cargo shorts or jeans
-DO NOT get dressed or put on your shoes in the parking lot of our courses
-DO Come warmed up and ready to tee off. We do NOT have access to the range at most of our courses.
-Parents/Galleries ARE NOT PERMITTED on the course or Club grounds. Parents please wait in their cars in the parking lots. Wed also ask parents who are members of our courses to follow these same rules.
– Range finders and pull/push carts ARE permitted (Non-GPS ONLY)
-Do NOT arrive more than 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time, unless otherwise noted. DO wait in the parking lot for either Coach Drake or Coach Chess to arrive. IF YOU ARE ON THE COURSE, CLUB GROUNDS, OR PUTTING GREEN BEFORE A COACH ARRIVES YOU WILL BE CUT FROM THE TEAM ON THE SPOT.
-You may not leave school early to warm up or practice before a tryout. Unless instructed by the coaches to do so an early release from class will be issued.
-SDUHSD policy states that students may only be driven by themselves or their parents. Students may NOT drive other students to or from matches or practice.
- Early releases will be provided on the tryout days.
Tryout Procedures:
Range Tryout: All student-athletes who were not part of the team last year are required to participate in the driving range tryout. Golfers will be evaluated on over-all swing, consistency, accuracy with a variety of clubs and distances, chipping, and putting. Cuts will be made following the range tryout.
On-Course Tryout: Up to 16 total golfers will be invited to play in a 2-day initial on course tryout. This tryout will take place at courses that will be announced on Saturday, February 8, . The dates for the on-course tryout will be Monday, February 15- Thursday, February 18. All tee times will be at approximately 12:00 PM for 18-hole rounds and 3:00PM for 9-hole rounds. Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program. Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.
Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.
