Welcome to Oak Crest Middle School PE! Excited for the Year!
Excited for the Year Ahead!
We’ve got an exciting week planned to kick off the school year. Here’s what’s in store:
1. Admin Talk:
We’ll start with a brief talk from an administrator to set the tone for a fantastic year.
2. Peer Group Walk:
After the talk, 7th and 8th graders will pair up for a buddy walk around our PE fields. You’ll explore the area and answer some fun questions we’ve posted around the PE court.
3. School Pictures:
Reminder: School pictures will be taken during PE on Friday, so come prepared!
4. Locker Assignments:
We’ll begin with assigning lockers to 8th graders.
Remember to wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle—it’s hot outside!
Also, bring your agenda and a pencil to note down your locker information.
After 8th graders, we’ll assign lockers to 7th graders. You’ll have the chance to pick a locker near a friend, but it must correspond with your class period number to avoid crowding in the locker room.
5. Locker Instruction:
Once lockers are assigned, we’ll teach you how to open your lock and distribute school locks.
6. PE Uniform Distribution:
After lockers, we’ll hand out PE clothes to those who ordered online through our school website’s store. If you haven’t ordered yet, here are the prices:
PE Shorts: $15
Dry Fit Shirt: $15
Sweatpants: $20
Crewneck Sweatshirt: $20
7. Uniform Policy:
Purchasing a PE uniform is optional, and we offer a "Flexible Dress Policy" for alternatives:
For safety reasons:
Laced athletic shoes must be worn at all times.
The following footwear is not allowed:
No Flip-Flops
No Crocs
No Platform Shoes
No Flats
No High Heels
No Slip-on shoes of any type (e.g., Vans)
No Boots
No non-sport hosiery (e.g., fishnet stockings, pantyhose) worn under PE shorts.
Sweatshirts and Sweatpants: May be worn over the PE t-shirt and shorts.
If circumstances do not allow you to purchase a uniform, please let your teacher know, and a uniform will be provided.
8. Flexible Dress Policy:
Students may come to school dressed for PE class instead of changing in the locker rooms. Locker rooms are available for storing backpacks.
9. Appropriate Attire:
Shorts: NAVY BLUE or BLACK athletic shorts that reach your thumb when your arms are by your sides. Shorts must have a 5-inch inseam minimum and be pocket-free. Rolling up shorts shorter than your thumb length is not allowed.
Leggings: Black leggings are permitted.
Shirt: A plain WHITE or GRAY FULL-LENGTH CREW NECK t-shirt with no pockets. Your name must be written on the outside.
Let's have a great start to the year!
