The TAI-EF O.A.S.I.S classroom is a wellness-based support curriculum developed by me after nearly three decades of educating students in a variety of settings. My curriculum combined with a variety of resources address and support the academic, social and personal needs in developing teens. High schoolers engaged in this environment maintain progress on high school core content requirements while also receiving direct instruction and support in all academic, social/emotional, and pragmatic goals.
Course Objectives/JMDR Dreams:
This course at Canyon Crest Academy is a class that aims to prepare students to be active participants in their high school careers. In addition to supported homework time, students will receive designated support services, as delineated in their Individual Education Plans. Throughout this course, students will receive individualized and/or small group support with school and life-related tasks, study skills, organization, self-awareness and social/emotional skill development via a variety of course activities. These skill sets are in line with San Dieguito Union High School District’s mission that all students be engaged, inspired and prepared. It is important to note that this course is not merely a study hall time; should you desire an uninterrupted study hall period, please take advantage of our after school Study Hall. Through active participation in the TAI-EF course, students will begin to develop the habits and tools necessary for a strong foundation on which to launch into life beyond high school.
Together, and with the support of all CCA staff, I aim to inspire each learner’s unique strengths, help them cultivate a commitment to themselves, to their educational program, and to promote personal character development, while planning for life beyond CCA. I aim to teach my students to tools they need to be fully informed about diversity, equity and access. Students have access to up to eight semesters, or four years of the TAI-EF course. Students, with the assistance of their Case Manager, or Advocate, I prefer Advocate... will develop an Individualized Transition Plan that they are ready to execute upon graduation from Canyon Crest.
