About Me:
My name is Bryn Bishop and I am very excited to be teaching at Canyon Crest Academy. My great grandfather, Raymond Brock, moved to Encinitas in 1931 and was an opening teacher for the brand new San Dieguito Unified High School District when it opened in 1936. Most of my family has grown up and graduated from schools in SDUHSD. I graduated from San Dieguito Academy in 2001 and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from UC Davis in 2005. After working in research, I discovered my passion for teaching. I received my California teaching credential in Secondary Science, Chemistry, and Physics in 2011. And in 2019 I finished my master's degree from Adams State University and NASA's STEM Endeavor Teaching Certificate from Columbia University's Teacher College in STEM Education: Instruction and Curriculum with a focus on STEM Leadership.
Since 2012, I have been teaching chemistry, physics, AP Physics B, and AP Physics 1 and 2 courses in North San Diego County High Schools. I have also been advisors for Astronomy Clubs and FIRST Robotics Programs.
I am a proud member of the National Science Teacher Association, the California Science Teacher Association, the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), and I am the Section Representative for the Southern California Chapter of AAPT. I am also the head workshop leader for the San Diego New Physics Teachers Workshops.
I enjoy astronomy, photography, hiking, camping, and otherwise unplugging with my husband and two young daughters.
