AVID 9/10

The 9th/10th-grade AVID Elective course helps freshmen and sophomores understand the demands of high school classes, find the balance needed to succeed in meeting the A-G requirements of the UC/CSU system, and also provides an introduction to college and career exploration.

AVID 11

The 11th-grade AVID Elective course is the first part in a junior/senior seminar course that focuses on writing and critical thinking expected of first- and second-year college students. In addition to the academic focus of the AVID seminar, there are college-bound activities, methodologies, and tasks that should be undertaken during the junior year to support students when they apply to four-year universities and confirm their postsecondary plans.

AVID Senior Seminar

The 12th-grade AVID elective course is the second part of a junior/senior seminar course that focuses on the writing and critical thinking expected of first and second-year college students. This course counts as a practical art (required for graduation) and is approved by UC/CSU schools as a “G” elective. This year-long course allows seniors to explore their interests in four-year universities and career opportunities beyond high school. In AVID Senior Seminar, students will focus on researching careers, establishing areas of study or majors prior to college, applying to colleges, and researching professional career opportunities. Seniors will also learn to resource money for college and apply for scholarship opportunities.
