San Diego Helpline: 1-800-523-5933 or 619-543-1434 a warm line for San Diego resources, which means trained Volunteers from NAMI will either be on the line or will contact you within 48 hours.

The Helpline is designed to offer: empathy, understanding and support, identification of options, and warm hand-off to other local resources and provide referrals.

We are also here to answer general questions regarding navigating resources like housing, support groups, if you or a loved one qualifies for a 5150, questions regarding clubhouses or crisis houses, what is Laura’s Law, how to have difficult conversations, etc.

You can also access our oscER app for information in the palm of your hand for navigating before, during, and after a mental health related crisis.

The helpline is NOT for:

  • counseling or therapy

  • providing specific recommendations when it comes to treatment (i.e. medication recommendations)

  • providing individual casework, legal representation, or other forms of advocacy

Serving the U.S. and Canada, the hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with professional crisis counselors who—through interpreters—provide assistance in over 170 languages. The hotline offers crisis intervention, information, and referrals to thousands of emergency, social service, and support resources. All calls are confidential.
