INTEREST IN ARCHITECTURE

This is a wonderful resource for students who would like to further explore their love for architecture through tours, volunteer programs, and summer classes. Many from all around the world visit the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio located at 951 Chicago Avenue in Oak Park.

Summer Design Camps are offered for seventh, eighth grade, and high school students. Class offerings are posted on their website toward the beginning of the year. Space is limited so it is important to call early on in the year. Most classes will meet in Wright's drafting room. If you have any further questions, please ask Mrs. Demakis in Room 201.

CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE CENTER

I recently visited the new Chicago Architecture Center on 111 East Wacker Drive in Chicago. This is an educational place where you can learn about the world's tallest skyscraper, Chicago housing styles and neighborhoods as well as famous architects. There are 3 D printed models of skyscrapers and modern Leed buildings for everyone who loves architecture to enjoy. A variety of educational tours are also offered from this location according to specific days and times.

ARTRAGEOUS

The Dorothy Menker Theater of the Fine and Performing Arts Center presented an artistic troupe going on a journey to witness creativity around the world. They cleverly combined Art, Theater, Audience Interaction, Music, Dancing, and Puppetry. They created works of Art while singing and dancing to a variety of musical genres. At the end of the show they created a gallery of unique finished paintings. The Dorothy Menker Theater is located at 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills on the campus of Moraine Valley Community College.
