2 sharpened pencils, 1 large pencil eraser
1 small pencil sharpener (recommended)
Markers and colored pencils of your choice (recommended)
Assignment Notebook required daily
Trimester/Semester folder with a few sheets of paper
Work shirt or smock used during painting, ink, and plaster projects

Students are allowed to bring home incomplete assignments and projects for completion. If a student is absent during the duration of a project, they may take home materials for completion or set an appointment with me to work in the Art Room.
Students are allowed to apply more effort to their projects in order to develop their creativity, improve on their skills, and reflect on their efforts of completion during the trimester/semester.
Practice reinforces drawing and observation skills learned in class. It encourages individuality and promotes confidence in creating work independently. Extra credit is given when students excel in the sketchbook challenge.
Work is expected to be carefully created and completed with specific directions given to each assignment. Each assignment is worth 100 points. If the assignment is 1 day late the student earns 80 points. If the assignment is more than 1 day late the student earns 0 points. If the student is absent for 2 days, they are given 2 days to make up the assignment.
Entering class
Walk in quietly and sit in your assigned seat.
Check the front board for warm-up activities and begin.
Be silent when the bell rings and the teacher will begin the class. Listen and follow CHAMP voice level ranges.
Raise your hand if you have a question when the teacher has completed the introduction of the lesson. If you have a question during the demonstration, raise your hand and wait for your turn. If the question does not pertain to the lesson, speak individually with the teacher as she is walking around your table after lesson directions are given.
Remain in your seat/station at all times during teacher instruction. Permission will be given in an orderly manner as not to disrupt the flow of the class.
Please make every effort to prepare for art class.
Bringing pencils sharpened to class will limit the amount of interruptions to your work.
Raise your hand after teacher directions are given if you need to sharpen your pencil.
Walk quietly and quickly when you sharpen your pencil; one student at a time.
Point to the Kleenex box or raise your hand if you need a Kleenex.
Raise your hand and wait to be called on if you need to wash your hands.
Recycle any paper at the end of class in the blue Recycle bin.
Raise your hand and wait to be called on if you need to use materials.
Go directly to the material site and retrieve materials without disrupting others. Sign out the materials on the sign out sheet noting the number of tools, date, and initials. Cross your name off the list as you return the materials.
You may go to the bathroom during passing periods. If needed, use your assignment notebook Pass Form to circle “W” for washroom, date, and time of exit. Sign the Classroom Sign Out Sheet adding Date, and Time Out. Walk up to the teacher silently without distracting others and wait for her to initial your notebook. She will hand you a Hall Pass. Upon return, log in time returned in your assignment notebook and the Classroom Sign Out Sheet. ONE STUDENT AT A TIME, OTHERS NEED TO WAIT TO BE CALLED.
Walk towards the teacher or raise your hand if you are not feeling well and a pass will be given to see the nurse.
Assemble quietly around the demonstration table, no moving about.
Bring note taking materials to the demonstration station.
Listen carefully to the goals and mechanics of the project.
Questions that pertain to the process are welcome during the demonstration.
Take notes with teacher direction.
Raise your hand and wait to be called on during the demonstration.
Avoid interrupting other students or teacher during the demonstration.
Be ready to answer summary questions of the art process.
Write your first and last name on the front bottom right-hand corner of your art work.
Carefully listen to directions given for your project.
Be creative, inventive, and unique.
Follow all steps demonstrated. If you are not sure, please ask.
Place full name, date, and class period on all written assignments.
Use complete sentences and paragraphs when describing or evaluating art work.
Review the steps by checking your work.
Use recycled cardboard when using tempera paint.
Use no more than 2 brushes, 1 paper towel, 1 cardboard, 1 cup, and 1 newspaper sheet for your set- up.
Apply no more than 3 colors to your palette per step (quarter to nickel in size).
Near the end of class, listen for your station to be called for clean-up.
Participate in your station’s clean-up assignment.
Rinse out paint brushes in the water bucket and place them face up in the brush container at your row.
Pour the water from the cups at your row into the water bucket, rinse, and stack them on the right side of the sink counter.
Throw out cardboard with paint in the waste container labeled paint only.
Place wet art work on the drying rack.
Throw out newspaper/table coverings as needed in the recycling bin.
Wipe down extra paint at your work area with a paper towel.
Remain seated until your table area is checked.
Follow Champs Level 0 during this part of the class.
Listen carefully to the summary questions.
Listen carefully to any further clean-up directions.
Listen carefully when you or your station is called for clean-up.
Quietly return materials when you or your station is called.
