Behavior Expectations

In our district, students are expected to be CHAMPS! CHAMPS is a classroom management system we use to develop an instructional structure in which students are responsible, motivated, and highly engaged in their learning tasks.

During classroom activities, we set expectations for students using CHAMPS.

C Conversation: How loud can my voice be when I am speaking? (We use voice levels!)

H Help: How can I get my teacher's attention or answer to my questions?

A Activity: What should I be doing?

M Movement: How and when am I allowed to move around the room?

P Participation: What does active participation look like?

S Success: Follow CHAMPS for a successful learning experience.

Students are expected to have their camera on during synchronous learning times. If you have concerns with this, please contact your child’s teacher.

Students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and ready.

Being respectful means:

  • Take turns talking during online lessons

  • Listen to what classmates are sharing

  • Follow CHAMPS expectations

  • Listen and respond politely to directions given by teachers

  • Use appropriate language at all times

  • Be respectful of each others’ privacy (recordings and/or screenshots are not permitted)

  • Use respectful facial expressions during online lessons

  • Wear school appropriate clothing during online lessons

  • Take care of school devices

  • Be kind to others and especially to yourself!

Being responsible means:

  • Ask for help

  • Complete work on time

  • Follow teacher directions to complete work independently

  • Use online tools and programs appropriately

  • Be present and stay focused during online lessons

  • Attend all scheduled online classes and be on time

  • Camera on

Being ready means:

  • Establish a daily routine to prepare for your day

  • Have all the materials that you need for class

  • Limit distractions

  • Find a place at home that can serve as your classroom

Birthdays

  • Students’ birthdays will be celebrated with a certificate/song in the classroom on the day of their birthday.

  • Each month, third grade will celebrate all the monthly birthdays with an extra recess.

  • Summer birthdays will be celebrated the last two weeks of school.

  • Due to food allergies and limits on instructional time, we will not be having individual birthday celebrations.
