We are the speech-language pathologists at Meyer who work with preschool and kindergarten aged students. Students who receive speech language services have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). However, we also provide some interventions through MTSS (Multi-tiered System of Supports) for mild articulation errors. We provide speech language therapy in small groups as well as within the classroom settings.
The students who receive speech-language services have a variety of communication needs. Some examples of those communication needs are:
CAS (childhood apraxia of speech)
Speech sound disorders
Expressive language deficits
Receptive language deficits
Pragmatic (social) language deficits
Fluency/stuttering

KIRSTEN FRANKEL
I graduated from Indiana University with my Pre-Professional Speech-Language undergrad degree and then received my Master’s in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Michigan State University. After graduating, I started my career in South Carolina schools, but have called the Chicago area home since 2011. During my time in Chicago, I’ve worked in public and private schools, as well as, outpatient clinics serving students with a wide variety of communication needs. As a member of the Skokie community myself, I am excited to work with the families of Skokie School District 73 1/2!
