SENĆOŦEN

Learn about the 13 moons of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. Each Moon includes digitized versions of; the laminated moon card, archive photos from the Saanich families kit, the Parks Canada animals and plant cards.

SENĆOŦEN is the language of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, on whose beautiful territory is the location of our school. Visit the First Voices SENĆOŦEN Kids Portal to learn words, phrases, listen to songs and stories and play games.

National Indigenous Day is held on June 21st. To celebrate, Sidney School asked Sarah Jim, a W̱SÁNEĆ artist, to design a special Sidney School bee mascot for us. In the video below, Sarah gives an explanation of the basics of Coast Salish art with our mascot as an example. She has also given us a bee (SEMSEMÍYE) for you to print and colour! Special thanks to Sarah Jim for sharing her knowledge and creativity with us.
