ȾIX̱EṈ – A Special Place
Author: Glenn Bartley
9 copies
This book is intended to be a celebration of the special place known as ȾIX̱EṈ (the SENĆOŦEN name for the Cordova Bay Spit). Located on the Tsawout Firs Nation reserve, ȾIX̱EṈ has been a part of the Saanich Peoples traditional territory for as long as 10,000 years. Generation after generation used this area for gathering and preparing traditional sea foods, for collecting medicinal plans, for celebrations and as a place of spiritual reflection.
In addition to celebrating ȾIX̱EṈ, this book is also intended to recognize the conservation activities that have taken place at ȾIX̱EṈ over the past few years.
