Crabfest: September 30, 2018 - Parkland Results

  • Danaka Howard-Batek and Anna Hulbert came first in the senior advanced women’s double and Kelsie Wolfe and Melanie Warwick placed fifth in a field of 9 boats.
  • In the senior advanced men’s single, Brandon Morino came in 4th for his debut in this event.
  • Cor van Stolk, Escher Nicholson, Oliver Howard-Batek, and Devon Keeler placed 2nd in the senior advanced men’s quad.
  • Nick Lukie and Marshall Walden placed 8th in the senior advanced men’s double
  • Jari Scott, Aaron Demers-Kovacs, Femke van Haeren and Keli Carroll had a 2nd place finish in the skills competition.
  • The junior boys quad crew with Harrison Martin, Nick Sullivan, Marshall Walden and Rowan Keeler had a 3rd place finish in the skills competition.
  • The Senior Novice Men’s eight beat the GNS crew in their 500m duel and placed second overall in their event. This crew consisted of Aaron Demers-Kovacs, Marshall Walden, Jari Scott, Rowan Keeler, Nick Sullivan, Harrison Martin, Femke van Haeren, Keli Carrol & Luke LePage.

October Sprints

Saturday

  • Up and comers from North Saanich Middle School were undefeated on Saturday in their composite coxed quad heats. Congratulations to Quinn Stancill and Annika Pedersen.
  • The senior novice mens 4X with Femka van Haeren, Aaron Demers-Kovacs, Jari Scott and Harrison Martin placed third.
  • Nick Lukie and Oliver Howard qualified for the final in the senior mens double, placing fifth overall.
  • The senior novice mens eight with Rowan Keeler, Jari Scott, Marshall Walden, Keli Carroll, Harrison Martin, Nick Sullivan, Aaron Demers-Kovacs, Femke van Haeren and Nick Lukie placed 2nd in a straight final under challenging conditions.
  • Danaka Howard-Batek and Keli Carroll qualified for the final in the senior advanced women's 2X and placed 6th overall.
  • The senior advanced men's eight placed 4th in a straight final against two Mt. Doug crews and two claremont crews.

Sunday

  • The junior novice men's quad with Marshall Walden, Rowan Keeler, Nicholas Sullivan & Harrison Martin had a first place finish.
  • Rown Keeler and Devon Keeler placed 5th overall in the junior men's double.
  • Cor van Stolk, Escher Nicholson, Brandon Morino and Devon Keeler made the final in the Senior Advanced Men's 4X and placed 6th overall.

City Championships

Saturday

  • Once again, undefeated in their timed finals, the North Saanich Hawks raced the coxed quad over 1000 m on Saturday. Unfortunately, a fast race in one of the other timed finals kept them off the podium.
  • The senior advanced women's quad with Keli Carroll, Anna Hulbert, Kelsie wolfe, Danaka Howard-Batek won their heat to advance to the final where they placed 5th in the city.
  • Marshall Walden, Oliver Howard-Batek, Rowan Keeler, & Devon Keeler placed first in the junior boys quad.
  • The senor novice men's eight with Jari Scott, Rowan Keeler, Keli Carroll, Femke van Haeren, Marshall Walden, Nicholas Sullivan, Harrison Martin, Aaron Demers-Kovacs, & Nicholas Lukie had a 4th place finish.

Sunday

  • Coxswain Luke LePage steered the senior advanced men's eight to a third place finish. Nicholas Lukie, Anna Hulbert, Danaka Howard-Batek, Kelsie Wolfe, Devon Keeler, Brandon Morino, Cor Van Stolk & Escher Nicholson raced down the 1000 m course, finishing in 3:36.13 with a blistering tail wind.
  • The junior novice men's quad, Rowan Keeler, Marshall Walden, Nicholas Sullivan & Harrison Martin, competed hard for a 2nd place finish.
  • Jari Scott, Aaron Demers-Kovacs, Femke van Haeren & Keli Carroll placed 4th in the senior novice men's quad
  • In a very tough field, the senior advanced men's quad with Brandon Morino, Escher Nicholson, Cor Van Stolk & Nicholas Lukie finished in 5th place.
  • The junior men's eight placed second to Claremont in a time of 3:57. Nicholas Sullivan, Aaron Demers-Kovacs, Jari Scott, Oliver Howard-Batek, Harrison Martin, Marshall Walden, Rowan Keeler, Devon Keeler put a solid race together, steered by Anna Hulbert.
  • Parkland won the JUNIOR EFFICIENCY AWARD for this regatta. This means that our junior program performed best in the entire city per entry made in the regatta.
