Senior Celebration
So excited to celebrate our seniors this year! Both Kyra and Madi took a risk coming out their senior year. We are so glad to have them both!
THESE 4 BOYS...well, Rumsey has had a lot of them the last four years. How they have grown, matured, grown tall and wise and funny...they will be missed so much next year. We love you Kira Parmalee, Madi Geiger, Ryker Zuffelato, Mitch Johnson, Fin Reed, and Wynn Olson.
Emery Berry, Huckleberry! From Summer running where he would get only 1-2 miles a day, he is now running 4-6 miles a day and racing in the 21's. He's had a great trajectory as a freshmen and we're looking forward to his future! Ryker Zuffelato, an old goat on the team, had a great Race #4, where he competed head to head and earned 3rd. He is a gritty competitor and we can always count on him; from hard work in practice or races, or his leadership. Won't be the same without him next year. Chris Holland...What a career this guy has had. Every single year he has taken almost a minute off of his times. He is really learning how to race and has become a WHOLE runner. He is committed and gritty and has even more to bring. And Colt Gress, another sparky freshmen! Colt ran a PR at 7 on 7 in the JV race, taking almost 30 seconds off his previous PR. He is a student of the sport, and we love his passion and enthusiasm for running, racing and the team. His future is bright!
Wynn Olson - At the mighty elevation of 5538 feet, Wynn put up his fastest career time, finishing with a 22:05. His Summer running is paying off, and his seniority on the team is keeping the JV squad together. Always willing to pitch in, lend a hand, or make a coach laugh, we are so proud of him! Caden Hackworthy also performed well in Butte, and his race times have been super steady. We never hear a complaint from Caden, and he has matured as the season has progressed, working hard in practice and races, and quick to help his teammates. Padmaja Vatti had a Season's Best, and looked super strong in her race. She was much of the force of our runners 5-8 at Butte, and her strength and determination carried her to the SB and great finish. Emery Eash executed a perfect race, opening in a great mile time and passing 6 girls in the second lap of the race. Her summer miles and efforts in workouts are lending to her growth as a runner. Additionally, she is always quick to lend advice or help her teammates.
Hayden Greiner - what a start to her running career! Hayden joined us at the start of the season having just moved from Florida. She was a little hesitant and new to running, but she just completed her first 5k with an impressive time and smiles all around. We are so proud of her hard work and determination. Everett Holland broke through this years barrier, landing a SB at Mountain West, and charging out at a faster first mile pace and holding on. She finished 16th which is quite the finish for a race this size! Love her fierce competitive spirit and her fitness is strong. Mason Lackey had quite the week, juggling Varsity soccer and Cross Country. He splits his time and intensity at practices and competitions. He ran a smart and strong race, looking strong the whole time and passing many people on the second lap. He brings spark to the team and we feel lucky he shares time with us! Fin Reed put up a SB this week, in a race where very few runners did. He had a great race - fast start, steady middle and great finish. He was a fierce competitor and earned his spot. Fin has brought great leadership to the boys squad and is ALWAYS read to pitch in!
Ty Vandervelden set a new PR for himself, shaving off 64 seconds from 2 weeks ago! He has been practicing and racing with a Varsity mindset and it is setting him up for great success. We love the leadership and help he brings to us all. Toviah Graham busted out a HUGE PR, breaking 21 with a time of 20:47. It's great to see all of his summer miles pay off. We love his daily attitude and never hear a complaint out of him - he's shining! Ky Hardman has been charging all season, both in training, competing and being a great leader. She has dialed in the Varsity mind set and committment and put up a season's best at Bozeman Invite. Love her GRIT! Lily Parris is crushing two sport competition, balancing her time with Flag Football and us. She locked in and showed up in Bozeman racing almost a minute faster than last week. We are so glad she shares her competitive spirit with XC!
Brodyn DeShaw is keeping us busy as he bumped up on the Top 10 list with a 9 second PR on Friday! Brodyn is a fearless competitor and his summer miles are paying off. Slade Anderson is setting a mark with highschool cross country. He came through the finish line with an incredible kick, dodging through people to finish strong. We love his spirit! Madi Geiger had a great first 5k race. She has been flirting with XC for three years and finally took the big risk, joining us as a senior. Her commitment to running is paying off and we are excited to see her times get faster with all her hard work. Lucy Downey is setting off her senior year right, with her 3rd fastest career time at Flathead Invite. It was great to see her compete so strong, with a great finish kick and a little surprise in her race. It's going to be a great season!
Kira Parmelee took a big risk her senior year in coming out for Cross Country and we are so happy that she did! She had a grueling hot 1st meet and rose to the occasion with an amazing finishing kick. Audyn Nuila had an amazing Varsity race, opening with a career PR! We are so excited to have her enthusiasm on the team. Cole Chinn, one of our newbie freshmen, kicked off his 5k career with GRIT! He ran strong and steady and had an amazing finish. We cannot wait to see all he is capable of. Carson Thorne opened his sophomore year with a PR, taking the boys out hot in the first mile with a 5:05. He held the course, finished strong and broke his 17:00 mark with a near 30 second PR!
