Set up a writing folder and provide a variety of pencils, markers, notebooks, cards, papers
Learners should choose what to write about and how to present that writing in authentic ways when at all possible.
Writers should underline the words they don't know how to spell and move on so as to not interrupt writing fluency. These words can then be added to their Word Work Collection.
All writers have some decisions to make prior to writing and it is helpful to younger children to talk with someone about those choices and final decisions:
