Daily Writing is a crucial component of developing literacy and one that parents can help by establishing the following routines which will enhance engagement, motivation and ownership:
Set up a writing folder and provide a variety of pencils, markers, notebooks, cards, papers
Learners should choose what to write about and how to present that writing in authentic ways when at all possible.
Writers should underline the words they don't know how to spell and move on so as to not interrupt writing fluency. Students preparing final drafts can then go back and correct spelling.
-What is the purpose of the written piece?
-Who is the intended audience?
-What format fits best?
