Park View Elementary is proud to be a RULER school, having staff trained by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. The goal of RULER is to increase emotional intelligence of staff and students to further promote positive social interaction and create a healthy learning environment for all.

All feelings matter. Your feelings matter. You matter. All feelings are important and serve a purpose. All feelings should be welcomed and honored. Feelings are at the heart of our interactions with others and help build relationships. RULER provides foundational skills to help recognize, understand, label, express and regulate our emotions, which is an essential life skill.
The Mood Meter
The Mood Meter
As part of the RULER approach, the Mood Meter is an essential tool to assist students and staff identify and label their emotions accurately to help build self awareness and learn effective coping strategies. Emotions are thought of as a measurement of energy and pleasantness.

RULER also provides a vocabulary of emotion words to help increase awareness and communicate more effectively.

Meta Moment
RULER helps us learn to sense when there is a change in our feelings, take a Meta Moment, envision our BEST SELF which will help us make positive choices.
