The Hillcrest Early Intervention Program is designed to service children with disabilities between the ages of 3 to 5 not yet enrolled in kindergarten through our preschool program along with typical peers.
Peers become role models for students with disabilities and enhance their own academic skills prior to entering into kindergarten the following school year. Peers must meet peer criteria for behavior and have age appropriate skills in all areas of development. Children with disabilities must meet eligibility criteria for special education.
Our focus is on teaching preschool and pre-kindergarten concepts through play, language-based activities, motor labs, centers, and group times. We teach the 64 learning standards of the E-Learning Guidelines for Idaho to address all domains of development and help each student be ready for Kindergarten.

Sunshine City opened its doors in late August 2021. Here at Sunshine, we believe that a child can learn so much from play. We encourage our children to cut with scissors, make messes, and learn how to carefully play all whilst learning. Our teachers can take a simple item and show the children 10 different ways to learn from that simple item, we want our children to question everything and use all parts of their creative minds.
“Play is the highest form of research.”
— Albert Einstein
